Quick answer: A UK electrician is normally qualified at Level 3, through an advanced apprenticeship or, for experienced workers, the Experienced Worker Assessment. Entry usually needs 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4, including English and maths. There is no government licence for individuals. The ECS card, run by the JIB, proves your grade, and firms join NICEIC or NAPIT to self-certify work.
