Quick answer: You cannot become a registered electrician in New Zealand through an online course alone. The EWRB requires 4 years (8000 hours) of experience on the experience pathway. On the qualified pathway it requires an apprenticeship with experience gained under a Trainee Limited Certificate. Online study can help with theory, but you still sit written Theory and Regulations exams and do supervised work.
What online study cannot replace

| Practical assessments | Electricians stages 1, 2 and 3 on the experience pathway | EWRB |
