What a retake really costs

  • Money. Every retake is another $78 to PSI, whether you retake one part or both.
  • Time. TDLR lets you retake each exam as many times as you need, so the wait is your own study time before you book again. The calculator adds those weeks for you.
  • The one-year window. TDLR gives you one year from the day it receives your Journeyman application to meet every requirement, including passing the exam. Every retake uses part of that year.

Passing each exam on the first try is the cheapest plan on the ladder: one less retake saves $78 and the weeks of waiting that come with it.
