Can you solve this one?

A real Calculations question from the pack. Pick an answer.

Calculations · from a pack mock2026 NEC

A dwelling has four fastened-in-place appliances other than ranges, dryers, space heating or air-conditioning: a 4,500 VA water heater, a 1,200 VA dishwasher, a 900 VA disposal and a 1,500 VA built-in microwave. Where four or more such appliances are on the same service, a 75% demand factor may be applied to their total. What is the demand load?

Pick an answer to open the worked solution.

Correct: 6,075 VA.

Not quite. 8,100 VA ignores the demand factor. The answer is 6,075 VA.

Not quite. 4,050 VA uses 50%: 0.50 x 8,100 = 4,050. The answer is 6,075 VA.

Not quite. 3,375 VA applies 75% to the water heater alone: 0.75 x 4,500 = 3,375. The answer is 6,075 VA.

Worked solution

  1. Total = 4,500 + 1,200 + 900 + 1,500 = 8,100 VA
  2. Four appliances, so the 75% factor applies
  3. Demand = 0.75 x 8,100 = 6,075 VA

Questions, answered

What should I check before buying Journeyman practice material?

Check the jurisdiction, exam level, code edition and what you actually receive. Then look at a sample explanation. The Texas Journeyman practice pack is sold separately from the code book and describes its timed mocks, printable material and calculation explanations on the product page.

A study routine to try

  1. Write the exam name and code edition from your current candidate instructions.
  2. Compare them with the product description.
  3. Read a sample solution and decide whether the format fits your study routine.

How can I use a Journeyman workbook in a short study session?

Choose a small set of questions, answer them with your reference material beside you and review the explanations before stopping. The Texas Journeyman workbook contains chapter practice, worked calculations and code-book lookup paths. Keep a note of the topic to revisit in the next session.

A study routine to try

  1. Choose a question set you can also review in the time available.
  2. Write your answer before opening the explanation.
  3. End with one corrected calculation or one rule you can now find and explain.

Sources

What should I look for in a worked workbook explanation?

Look for the rule or concept, the given values and a sequence you can follow without guessing a missing step. The Texas Journeyman workbook includes worked calculations and lookup paths for code questions. Use those features to explain an answer yourself before moving on.

A study routine to try

  1. Compare your first step with the explanation.
  2. Look up the cited code location in your own reference.
  3. Write a short note about the error, then solve the question again.

Sources

What is on the Texas Journeyman exam?

Two parts, 70% each: NEC Knowledge, 59 questions in 130 minutes, and Calculations, 26 questions in 110 minutes.

How many do I need right to pass?

70% of the scored questions in each part: 40 of 56 in NEC Knowledge and 17 of 24 in Calculations.

Can I try it first?

Yes. 70 free questions, 20 per round, with no sign-up. Plus a daily five: five fresh questions picked for you every day after you sign up.

What is the refund policy?

No paid mock started, no PDF downloaded? Ask within 30 days for a full refund.

How long can I use it?

Access does not expire. It is a US$39 one-time purchase, not a subscription.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Practice, timed mocks, answers, explanations and the wrong-answer list work on mobile and desktop.

Who writes and checks the questions?

The pack is built by Tsai, founder of Tsai Electro, using public exam sources, NEC references and a public corrections workflow.

Is it written for the 2026 NEC?

Yes, every question, plus the 2023 to 2026 moves such as Article 220 to 120.

What if I find a wrong answer?

Report it from the question. The team reviews source-backed reports and updates the public corrections log.

Should I use this instead of a textbook or video course?

Use both. A textbook or video course teaches the Code and the math. This bank is where you practice under the clock and find the topics that still cost you points. Use it after or alongside study so your review time goes back to the exact skills that need work.

Does the same Texas Journeyman exam prep work in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio?

Yes. TDLR uses the same statewide Journeyman exam outline at PSI locations across Texas, so this pack targets the state exam rather than a city test.

Is the code book included?

The product description says the 2026 NEC book is sold separately.

Should I choose by question count alone?

Also check the explanations, subject coverage and format. Pick material you can use to diagnose a mistake.

Are paperback and Kindle editions of the same book?

The paperback and Kindle editions are formats of the same Texas Journeyman title.

How do I choose a format?

Compare the available editions and samples, then choose the reading format you will use consistently.

Should I memorize the answer letter?

Focus on the reasoning so you can work through a question with different values.

Are these official exam questions?

Treat this as independently produced preparation material, not an official question release.
