Electrical Apprenticeship Ranking List Explained: Why Your Rank Can Move Up or Down

Updated About 3 min read

At Austin Electrical Training Alliance, the interview score determines rank, new classes are filled in ranked order until capacity is met, and a ranking can move up or down with each application process. South Texas JATC standards say completed new interviews are added to the existing ranked list, then selection starts with the top score and continues downward until the desired number is reached. Under those published rules, your place can move down when a new score enters above yours and can move up as people ahead of you are selected.

Checked against the Austin Electrical Training Alliance apprentice page and South Texas JATC standards on October 17, 2026.

What changes the number

  • Austin: Interview score sets the rank, and each application process can move the ranking in either direction.
  • South Texas: Newly interviewed applicants join the existing list, and selections begin with the top score on the current list.
