Prepare three short, true stories before the interview: one about working with others, one about showing up and following through, and one about learning something new. Tell each one in three steps: the situation, what you did, and how it turned out. Examples from any job count. A warehouse shift, a restaurant rush or a military duty can show the same habits an electrical crew needs.
What North Texas Electrical JATC says its committee may consider
North Texas Electrical JATC lists educational background, math background, character, interest, cooperativeness, attitude and personal appearance. Its applicant page lists these as factors the committee may consider but gives no point values, so use them to prepare real examples, not to predict a score.
Three stories to prepare
- Teamwork. A time you helped a coworker, took direction, or fixed a problem with someone you did not get along with.
- Reliability. A time you showed up early, covered a shift, or finished a job when it was hard to.
- Learning. A time you learned a new tool, task or rule quickly, and how you checked that you had it right.
Keep each story under about a minute. End with the result, and if you can, a number: how many days without a missed shift, how many people on the crew, how fast you learned it.

Write one story in three steps, then read it out loud. It shows the word count and a speaking time at about 130 words per minute. Nothing is saved.
