TEXAS CAREER LAB · L2 · ENGLISH + ESPAÑOL

Power-system reasoning and crew-planning lab

Bring the skills together in one original project: eight linked tasks, worked reasoning, a changed case and four review criteria. The downloadable ZIP includes the complete project in English and Spanish, TXT study records, editable JSON save-and-restore and blank CSV worksheets.

Included with this product at its current price. Extract the ZIP and open START.html. Work offline without installing an app. Keep your existing study materials and add a project you can return to with your own saved record.

Try the first project task

Separate physical quantities before calculating: VA is apparent power; W includes power factor; Wh includes elapsed time. In a balanced three-phase model use line-to-line voltage with √3; do not transfer that formula to an unbalanced system. Transformer current ratios below are ideal models, not wiring instructions or vector-group approval. For leadership, use a dependency plan: readiness evidence first, then authorized assignment, then actual completion. Documenting a delay is better than hiding it inside an optimistic schedule.

Fictional desk packet L2, never a switching or construction plan. Balanced load30kVA at480V line-to-line, PF0.80, √3=1.732. Separate ideal single-phase transformer50kVA, primary7,200V and secondary240V. A resistive-only model has40A through total loop resistance0.25ohm. A separate load consumes12kW for3h. Diagram revision A shows feeder F supplying branch B; revision B marks B supplied by feeder G, while the old work note still names F. Three work packages need readiness review before assignment: A review1h then desk analysis2h; B review1h then desk analysis2h; C waits for both reports then closeout1h. One reviewer and two desk analysts are available. No field crew is authorized.

Calculate balanced line current and real power with units.

Compare the worked reasoning

I=30,000/(1.732×480)=36.09A≈36.1A. P=30kVA×0.80=24kW. VA and W are not interchangeable, and the stated PF does not multiply the line current again when apparent power is already given.

Otra carga12kW durante3h. Diagrama A: alimentador F suministra B; revisión B: G suministra B; nota antigua aún dice F. Paquetes: A revisión1h y análisis2h; B revisión1h y análisis2h; C espera ambos informes y cierra en1h. Un revisor y dos analistas de aula disponibles. Sin cuadrilla de campo autorizada.

Calcula corriente de línea y potencia real con unidades.

Comparar la guía resuelta

I=30,000/(1.732×480)=36.09A≈36.1A. P=30kVA×0.80=24kW. VA y W no son intercambiables; no multipliques otra vez corriente por FP cuando ya se da potencia aparente.

Use the supplied fictional packet for study; keep actual field assessment and official decisions with their responsible reviewers. / Usa el paquete ficticio para estudiar; las evaluaciones reales y decisiones oficiales corresponden a sus responsables.

E08 · Inventory every possible source
The four cards inventory possible sources; they do not show electrical connections. Use the supplied 10 kWh, 0.80 and 0.90 energy factors, then compare the 2 kW load with the 3 kW continuous inverter rating.

Open START.html from texas-career-bridge-studio-en-es-v4.zip in a current browser. The studio runs offline without installation or an account. External reference and product links open only when you choose them.

Try an actual studio station: CT ratio, displayed units and uncertainty

Learn the method

A documented instrument-transformer ratio scales a supplied secondary reading to its corresponding primary quantity only when the display has not already applied that scaling. For a paper current model, primary current=secondary current×(rated primary/rated secondary). A stated instrument accuracy±(percentage of reading+counts×resolution) contributes uncertainty; it is not the entire CT/system error budget. This lesson reads supplied records only and provides no instrument connection, CT-secondary handling or live testing procedure.

Fictional packet

Fictional CT400:5 A; display explicitly states 2.50 A secondary, resolution 0.01 A and accuracy±(0.5% of reading+2 counts). CT accuracy/burden, phase error and calibration evidence are absent.

Your attempt: Scale the value and the instrument-only uncertainty; describe the missing evidence.

Compare the worked guide

Ratio 80:1 gives 200 A primary. Secondary uncertainty 0.005×2.50+2×0.01=0.0325 A; scaled component±2.6 A primary. Do not label this the complete measurement uncertainty. Request exact device/ratio, display scaling, calibration and CT/system conditions before relying on actual values.

The included studio adds changed-condition retries, evidence notes and the related career bridge.
