Texas Electrical Inspector Employment Coverage and Written Terms Checklist

Before relying on a verbal promise, collect the written offer or assignment terms, safety reporting path, workers compensation status notice, tool responsibility, expense rules, and the name of the person who can resolve each gap.

Boundary: This is an educational question list, not legal, employment, contract, insurance, or safety advice. It does not decide coverage or liability. Confirm a real offer with the employer and appropriate attorney or licensed insurance professional.

Official public sources were checked on 2026-10-27. Recheck the current source before using this worksheet for a real decision.

Verify the employment protection and cost boundary

What is missing until this is complete: the employer identity, written role and pay terms, supervisor, safety contact and reporting path, workers compensation status notice, injury-reporting contact, tool ownership and replacement terms, expense and reimbursement rules, and the person who can answer each unresolved condition.

Topic Ask for or verify Record Escalate to
Role and supervision Written title, duties, location, schedule, start conditions, supervisor Document date and unanswered differences Employer or authorized hiring contact
Safety Orientation, hazard reporting, stop-work and emergency contacts, required employer procedure Procedure identity, contact, acknowledgment date Employer safety contact or supervisor
Workers compensation Written covered or non-covered status notice and claim or injury-reporting contact Notice title, date, employer identity, contact Employer and licensed insurance professional
Tools and property Who supplies, approves, inspects, stores, repairs, replaces, or pays for each item Tool category, owner, condition rule, cost responsibility Employer or contract reviewer
Expenses and written terms Travel, mileage, parking, training, credentials, uniforms, devices, reimbursement, deductions Written source, approval owner, timing, open question Employer, CPA, attorney, or licensed insurance professional as appropriate

Review sequence

  1. Match the employer name and role across the posting, offer, policy, coverage notice, and tool or expense document.
  2. Mark each topic Confirmed, Conflicting, or Needs written answer. Keep the document and check date beside the status.
  3. Write unsent questions that name one missing field at a time. Do not ask this page to interpret the agreement or policy.
  4. Have the responsible employer contact answer operational questions. Take legal, tax, or insurance conclusions to the appropriate professional.

TDI says most private Texas employers may choose whether to carry workers compensation coverage. TDI also publishes written employee coverage-status notices and separate employer reporting resources. That is why the worksheet asks for the actual employer notice instead of assuming every employer has the same coverage.

Stop: Do not treat a verbal promise, job-posting summary, certificate image, or this worksheet as a coverage decision or legal interpretation.
