Texas Electrical Inspector Digital Record and Measurement Tool Control
An inspection conclusion is easier to review when the record identifies the assignment, drawing revision, photo, observation, measurement tool, tool status, change history, and decision owner. Practice the control system with fictional records only.

Build a reconstructable inspection record
What is missing until this is complete: assignment identity, location alias, date and time, inspector role, plan and specification revision, observation, photo identity, measurement and unit, tool identity and status, review state, correction history, and decision owner. A folder of photos or a final report without those links cannot recreate the review path.
| Control | Required fields | Failure to flag |
|---|---|---|
| Assignment | Fictional case ID, scope, authority or supervisor role, date | Wrong project or unverified authority |
| Document version | Drawing or specification ID, revision, issue date, source, superseded status | Observation tied to the wrong revision |
| Photo | Photo ID, timestamp, location alias, subject, orientation, observation link | Image with no context or personal data |
| Measurement | Observed value, unit, method, tool ID, conditions if relevant, reviewer | Unit, tool, or method missing |
| Tool control | Type, maker, model, serial or local ID, range, status, last verification, next due date if the employer sets one | Status unknown, damaged, overdue, or outside range |
| Record version | Version ID, author role, date, change reason, old value, new value, reviewer | Silent overwrite |
Fictional desk exercise
- Create a fictional case with one plan revision, three photo IDs, and one observation. Use no real address, person, permit, employer, or client data.
- Add a measurement only as supplied sample data. Do not perform field testing for this exercise.
- Link the sample value to a fictional tool record. If calibration, verification, range, or status is missing, mark the measurement Not ready for conclusion.
- Replace the plan with a later fictional revision. Preserve the prior record and identify which observations require re-review.
- Correct one transcription error through a new version. Keep the original value, reason, author role, reviewer, and timestamp.
- Export a local plain-text readback and confirm the IDs, versions, unresolved statuses, and redaction. Do not upload it.
O*NET supports the occupational context by listing daily logs with photographs, plan review, measurements, test equipment, and several kinds of inspection and office software. The version history, photo index, tool-status gate, and supervisor handoff are our educational controls for reconstructing the record.
