Texas lineworker career guide
Superintendent Evidence and Stakeholder Commitments
A title is not the evidence file. Build a promotion record that shows delivery, resource control, communication and closed commitments, then use a separate register for utility customers, prime contractors, suppliers and internal decision owners.
Boundary: This guide does not grant a title, qualification, assignment or work authority. It does not state that any employer has an open position. Confirm the actual role and decision process with the target employer.
What public occupation data supports
O*NET reports that first-line supervisors of mechanics, installers and repairers coordinate work, monitor performance, determine schedules and assignments, discuss resource needs with management and outside parties, meet with vendors or suppliers, participate in budgets and review contractor work. O*NET also lists superintendent among reported job titles for that occupation. These entries support the evidence categories below, not a universal promotion requirement.
1. Build a promotion evidence file
Select completed examples that can be verified without disclosing customer secrets, personal data or protected company records. Each example should show the situation, assigned role, approved objective, source record, action boundary, measurable result, reviewer and any unresolved question.
| Evidence lane | What to index | Reviewer question | Privacy boundary | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delivery | Approved objective, schedule record and closeout evidence | What did the assigned role own? | Redact customer and worker data | Verified or unresolved |
| Resources | Crew, material, equipment and outside-party plan | Which decisions were authorized? | Use category summaries | Verified or unresolved |
| Variance | Issue, evidence, escalation and approved response | Was the response inside the role boundary? | Remove claim and personnel details | Verified or unresolved |
| Stakeholders | Commitment, owner, date, source and closure | Who confirmed completion? | No private contact data | Verified or unresolved |
Promotion-review questions
- Which current role description is being used for comparison?
- Which examples show scope, schedule, resources and outside-party coordination?
- Which examples were independently reviewed, and by whom?
- Which required evidence is still missing?
- Which training, qualification or assignment decision remains with the employer?
2. Manage stakeholder commitments
Keep organizations and decisions visible without treating a relationship as approval. For each utility customer, prime contractor, supplier and internal owner, record the approved contact channel, commitment, source, due date, dependency, current response, next action and closure evidence.
- Record the exact request or commitment, not a summary that changes its meaning.
- Name the responsible role and the channel authorized by the company.
- Separate requested, acknowledged, approved, delivered and accepted statuses.
- Link the schedule or resource dependency to the commitment.
- Escalate a missed or conflicting commitment through the employer’s approved path.
- Close the entry only with a source record and reviewer.
For supplier records, separate product availability, approved substitute review, delivery promise, received quantity and acceptance. For customer or prime-contractor records, separate request, authorization, field observation and contract decision.
Use public job pages correctly
A public careers page can help identify the employer’s current vocabulary and application entry. It cannot prove that a role is open after the posting closes, and it cannot replace the employer’s current description. Save the page title, URL and check date, then confirm the actual posting and requirements before presenting them as current.
