Short answer: You need one verification from each Master Electrician who supervised you. TDLR’s Journeyman and Master license pages say you must contact and get verification from each Master who supervised you, documented and signed on an Experience Verification Form, and each supervisor completes a new form. So if three Masters supervised you over five years, plan for three forms, each covering only that Master’s period. List every Master and the dates and hours you worked under them, then track which forms you already have.
Starting your first year as a Texas apprentice? The US$19 Texas First-Year Electrical Apprentice Kit gives you printable pages for the first months on the job: a tool-check card, a who-to-ask list with a short stop-and-ask script, emergency-contact and heat-and-rest cards, plus a Tool budget sheet and a Tool inventory sheet (CSV).
Log your Texas Journeyman hours free. A free Tsai Electro account keeps your supervised hours, your online practice scores and your exam date in one place. Start with a five-question check to see which topic to practice next.
The free hours ledger in your Tsai Electro account lets you record each employer, supervisor, work period and hours, shows how far you are from 7,000, 8,000 and 12,000 hours, and exports a CSV or a printable summary. It is your own record, not an official TDLR record, and it does not replace the Experience Verification Form your supervising Master signs.

- My total hours of on-the-job training
- Hours covered by the signed forms I have
Keep one line per Master
| For each Master | Example |
|---|---|
| Full name and Texas license number | As shown in the TDLR license search |
| Company you worked for under them | The Electrical Contractor at that time |
| Start and end dates under this Master | Only this Master’s period, with no overlap |
| Hours in that period | From your log, checked against pay stubs |
| Form status | Not asked, asked, signed and saved |
What decides each line is who actually supervised your work. If your supervising Master changed while you stayed at the same company, record each Master’s period as its own line and ask each one to verify only the time they supervised.
If one Master is hard to reach, see find a former supervisor. For the form itself, see the Texas Experience Verification Form (ELC017).

Do I need a separate form for each Master Electrician in Texas?
Yes. TDLR asks for verification from each Master who supervised you, and says each supervisor should complete a new Experience Verification Form.
What if two Masters supervised me at the same company?
List them as two separate periods and ask each one for a form covering their own dates and hours.
Can a Master sign for hours another Master supervised?
Each Master verifies the experience they supervised. Ask each supervising Master to complete their own form for their period.
