Short answer: A Texas Apprentice Electrician license is valid for one year from the date it was issued and must be renewed every year. TDLR says you should receive a reminder email or postcard about 60 days before it expires, but renewing on time is your responsibility, so keep your contact information current. Find your expiration date, then use the check below: after expiry the fee goes up, and after more than 3 years you have to apply again as a new applicant.

| 91 days to 18 months | $40 | Online |

TDLR’s FAQ says anyone performing electrical work must obtain a license first, and that there is no grace period to work while waiting for a license to be issued. Do not do electrical work on an expired license; renew first and check your status in the TDLR license search.
