Rules that keep your resume strong
- Claim only electrical work you really did. When you apply for a Journeyman license later, each supervising Master Electrician signs a TDLR Experience Verification Form saying what you did and for how long, and TDLR may contact people to verify it (TDLR Journeyman application, Form ELC017).
- Put your license number at the top. Several programs ask for proof of your apprentice license when you apply. See the full program list.
- Use numbers. Years, people, pounds, dollars and shifts.
- One page. Print five copies for in-person visits.
- Two plain lines under "What I bring" do the work of an objective statement.
